Netflix must-watch viewing through lockdown

 

 What did we do before Netflix?! With so many boxsets to choose from, deciding what to watch can be too much at the end of long day, so we’ve done the hard work for you! 

This is the Active Edge Physio team’s combined Netflix viewing recommendations, tried and tested:


Documentaries

  • The Last Dance – a 10-part documentary series telling the story of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls’ basketball dynasty.
  • Icarus – an American documentary film exploring the major international doping scandal in cycling.
  • Sherpa  a documentary film sharing people’s experiences in the aftermath of Mount Everest’s deadly avalanche in 2014.
  • 7 Yardsa feature-length documentary about a young man with a spinal injury who defies his diagnosis that he only had a 3% chance he would ever move again.
  • F1 Drive to Survive – take a behind-the-scenes look at the Formula One World Championship rivers and races.

Comedy-drama

  • Offspring 7 seasons of a Melbourne-based, comedy-drama series, featuring Nina Proudman’s search for love and coping with the challenges of her eccentric family’s chaos.
  • Working Moms  an entertaining, hilarious, and often blunt sharing of the lives of a group of working mothers who each have their own challenges to parenting to endure.
  • Atypical  to date, there are 4 seasons of this series, sharing insights into the life of the fictional Gardner family. Main character, Sam Gardner, is an 18-year-old on the autistic spectrum. Heart-warming, honest, funny and thought-provoking viewing.
  • White Lotus – this comedy drama satire follows a group of guests staying at a tropical resort over the course of a week.

Comedy-sitcoms 

  • Superstore  a 6-season series following the comedic daily life of the employees working at Cloud 9, a fictional store.
  • Brooklyn 99 – follow the funny, loveable staff at the Brooklyn 99’s police precinct as they solve crimes for 8 seasons of banter and comical colleague dynamics.
  • Grace and Frankie – 7 seasons of how Grace and Frankie adapt, after learning that their husbands are leaving them to start a new life together, in love with one another. 

Comedy-horror

  • Santa Clarita Diet – a 3-season TV series with a twist in the lives of a married couple who are both real estate agents.

Dark comedy

  • Dead to Me – a dark comedy crime drama with multiple plot twists.
  • Big Little Lies – a drama mystery comedy based on the bestselling novel of the same title.

Crime

  • The People v OJ Simpson: American Crime Story – a gripping 10-episode series, based on the real life trial of OJ Simpson for double homicide.
  • How to Get Away with Murder – a 6-season legal thriller following a group of law students and their criminal defence professor, filled with suspense.

Drama

  • Sweet Tooth – a futuristic, fantasy drama where a virus causes hybrids between humans and animals.

Hopefully there’s something here that appeals and you haven’t seen yet to give you some light relief.
